I have been trying Scott Rao Hario V60 pourover this week. 1:17 and blooming with 2 parts water the first 45 seconds then splitting the rest into 2 pours. A little stirring is included. We like it.

My brew ratio is 1:17 (exactly 59.5 g/L). That's roughly 8.5g per 5-oz cup.

I'm looking to hire someone to teach/help me to find the best roast profile for the 3 types of coffee that grow on my farm in nicaragua. I live in LA, but but could go anywhere in so cal with my Behmor for a roasting lesson. Please contact me if you're in

When your wife thinks 30 grams for a 6 cup setting is strong, you learn to drink muddy water when you are making coffee for both of you.

I use a rule of thumb of 60 grams per liter. 8 cups (1 liter, 32 oz) = 60 grams, 6 cups (3/4 liter, 24 oz) = 45 grams. 10 cups = 75 grams 12 cups = 90 grams

I remember one of the all time great instant coffee beverages called Postum. I think it was made from ground up wood industry bi-products and a little malt grain ground up nice and fine and then roasted to perfection to give it that super rich coffee-like flavor.

I'm sure it would give these highly rated real coffee extract instants a real tough challenge for #1!ThumbsUp

"Postum was sometimes marketed by an invisible cartoon ghost named Mister Coffee Nerves, who would appear in situations wherein people were shown in uncomfortable life-situations (e.g., irritability, lack of sleep, lack of athletic prowess) due to their use of coffee and its negative effects. These cartoons always ended with the afflicted people switching to Postum and Mister Coffee Nerves fleeing until the next cartoon"

No wonder I used to get chronic headaches! I didn't know they didn't include caffeine in this stuff. :@

No kidding? We can still buy it? I've never seen it on the shelves.

Hmmm. A quest, I think...

Of course Postum is not soluble coffee. It was very popular with people with delicate stomachs. Postum was made by roasting wheat and malted wheat. Emphasis on WAS; I heard they stopped making it a few years ago. So, who here is going to start roasting wheat!

Never fear, their website says they will reintroduce it winter 2012! Now we will have a benchmark to compare our homeroasted wheat against
