After reading up on all the great conversions here, I thought I would give it a try. So I confiscated the wife's bread maker in the interest of science to get this project rolling.
Step 1 rip the guts out.
Step 2 take the lid apart
Step 3 rewire the motor with a toggle switch
Step 4 add a receptacle
Step 5 wire in a larger power cord.
Step 6 confiscate heat riser off an old manifold and modify.
Step 7 pop-rivet into metal lid
Step 8 Install reducer to accept heat gun.
Step 9 install heat riser flex tube
Step 10 cut hole in side of bread maker to duct smoke out of chamber.
Step 11 install ducting
Step 12 wait for thermocouple probes to arrive
Here it is so far.

Nice clean version of a bm/hg combo. Good work.
I would recommend scrubbing the teflon or non stick surface from the bm receptacle. |

Super BM build! I second the "clean build" comment.
Looking forward to more photos and build documentation as you add thermocouples and start browning beans!
Oh, btw, that is one sweet looking automobile in the foreground! What year is it?

I guessing here... but looks like it might be a Corvette 1974 or 1975?
Echoing others, very nice BM build. Keep us all posted.
Cheers,

Sorry, been away with work and busy, daughter just graduated from college today. I'll see about getting the teflon scrubbed out. My summer toy is a 76 vette that I spent a few years going through. It now has a GMPP 350HO with about 350hp. It's got a factroy 4 speed and now runs like a Corvette should. :-) |

Looks like a good setup, I have been using a covered HG/BM for over 6 years now and still love the results of roasting in it. I put a hole in the end at the bottom for air and chaff to escape a long time ago but never did put any tubing on it like you did. I need to do that.
Good luck, anxious to see further additions and improvements.
Pete

I finally had time to finish it off. Added a computer fan to suck the smoke our but spaced it a little distance from the duct. I only want to pull the smoke out not the heat. I also found I had to add a set screw to the paddle. When I did a test run with beans and no heat the beans caused the paddle to lift up.
