I have a questions.. im trying to experiment with riasting.. i roasted 3 cup of nicaraguan at 200 degrees for 1 hr and 30 min.. is that to long?

However, it requires a simple calculation to convert air-speed to flow rate. Air-speed (anemometer) meters are inexpensive. ($12 USD). Will your configuration work with an anemometer? No oil on my beans...

I just want to read the air coming into the fan. It is a vacuum cleaner fan with a hole, I'll have to look, but IIRC about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 ??? -------------- Backwoods Roaster "I wish I could taste as well as I wish I could roast." 'Hot wire' type use a voltage across a wire to determine many different things air speed and mass flow are two types, but yes 'hot wire' meters tend to have the same size hole cutout for the 'hot wire'.. No oil on my beans...

There a two basic types the hot wire type for flow, temperature, air speed. and the propeller type for air speed and/or temperature. Either type may be or may not have a way to remote it ($$$). The prop type is the most difficult to remote because it usually requires a mechanical cable but the hot wire ones are electronic wire... No oil on my beans...

I've installed industrial flow transmitters (4-20 ma) by Rosemount, Dwyer, Emerson, Hoffer, and etc. Usually the need is water, but they are available for gas. Very large, expensive, and you need something like a PLC to connect them to... No oil on my beans...

A hot wire sensor of this type only reads at the tip. The wand and extension are for reading in like in an air duct. With this type you must know the range you want to read because they are built for a certain range. This one is 0-2000 fpm.
