Valve bags-Where do you buy?
snwcmpr
I want some 1/2 lb degassing valve coffee bags. Prefer clear.
I give away coffee once in a rare occasion. I have printed, and colored, custom "Backwoods Roaster" labels.
I just noticed I am out of 1/2 lb bags.
I do not need a lot of them.

Where do you get them?

Sweet Marias has 1/4 lb clear degassing bags, but I have some. I rarely use these, too small. I can only get 185 grams in one. I would like to get as much as 250 grams.

I saw some on Amazon, but have no experience with them. (Not Amazon, silly, the bags)

Hi Ken, long time no talk...

The problem is that most places want you to buy a case of 500 or so.

Happy mug had them in small quantities but it seems they no longer have the larger size, only the 1/4 pound and 2 oz size. These were nice foil bags with valves. You had to heat seal them with an iron.

KKTO Roaster.

Thank you.
As rarely as I do use them, 80 cents each is not too bad. (Amazon link above)
I do hope someone else has a solution.

I didn't order clear bags, but placed an order for 16oz bags with one way valves and tin ties as that's how I package all of my roasted coffees. Then can use either a marker or label for identification. 100 bags with tax and shipping was about $58. Better than the $0.75 a bag I was used to paying elsewhere.

Still looking.

I got some of these: https://prima-coffee.com/equipment/prima-coffee/valve-8n

Very happy with them, and I have little labels I put on mine as well, which adds a nice touch...

Brandon
I used these when I had steady stream of friends/family that I roasted for.

Well, not with that kind of attitude! ;)

Ha. Home roasting only.

How long for you to go through 500 1/2 lb bags.

I did an order from Prima.
10 bags for 5.00. Shipping a little over 7 dollars.
20 bags for 10.00. Shipping 7.70.
30 bags for 15.00. Shipping 8.80.

I decided on 20 bags for 17.70. Under 90 cents a bag.
These will last me quite a while.

A long time right now. For a couple years, I had about 20-25 people who I'd roast for once per month, so I moved through them pretty quickly then.

Excellent, I like the bags and re-use them and they hold up well. I only order new ones when I roast around the Holidays for gift-giving... always take a few bags to my Dentist office ( they LOVE IT ) and friends at my old work place.
It's bad luck to be superstitious

snwcmpr
I am selective of those i give my roasted coffee to. They always want more, and are too spoiled to like commercial coffee again. :)
