thin sheet flexable mica is available from McMaster Carr for like 14 bucks for a I think 29 by 34 inch peice 1200 degree I think, I'm going to put that on the inside between the coil and shell. soft fuzzy stuff will be on the outside, see where I am going stuffs not to pricey.

thought I would throw that in since you fixin to start putting hot wires inside some stuff, you may be able to lay that coil on its side plug the middle and let the air run up thru it, middles probably some off shot of bakeilite.
