At $385, I think from our friends down-under. It strikes me as a Bialetti on steroids. http://www.ottoes... Has video on how it works. I think I read that it runs on about 4 bars. B|Java Edited by BoldJava on 02/19/2009 5:56 AM |

I think I want one for the novelty, but can it really make good espresso? I'm thinking it might be better suited for coffee beverages rather than a straight shot. It seems extraction would be prolonged with an extended pre-infusion stage as the steam/hot water makes its way through the grounds. Next question - If the water in the boiler is just enough for two perfect cups of coffee, where does the steam come from? Nah, I don't want one. Respect the bean.

That's enough steel for the water to cool from steam to 200F by the time it hits the grinds. Might make something similar to espresso. However, $400 is getting close enough to a Silvia which can be fitted with a PID to make good espresso every shot... Pretty alone doesn't cut it, IMO. -Marshall Hance
