KK, I have several Yama glass rod filters and it would seem the answer is yes, they do. My guess is those lines are the flashing at the mold seems. John Respect the bean.

John It seams they may be the cause of some grounds that pass into the brew even on courser grinds Can I grind the glass lines off ?? KK I home roast and I like it. Designer of the KKTO

Hmmm. If you grind them off, I don't think the filter will improve. My guess it would get worse. I have 4 in use at the moment that I rotate through depending which one I grab. Every one has the flashing and each lets through a bit of fines. Personally, it doesn't bother me. Neither do the little bits that come through the Swiss Gold or the French Press What would you use to grind them with? Obviously not the old Black & Decker bench grinder. My thought is you would end up with a very fine channel or a flat spot. In either case, a ruined filter rod. John Respect the bean.

Quote What would you use to grind them with? Obviously not the old Black & Decker bench grinder. Probably a Dremel tool I also don't mind if some grinds find there way past the glass rod Remember I drink quite a bit of Greek/Turkish coffee I was just questioning the performance of the filter and if it was normal I guess you have answered my query So I will leave the glass rod well alone & enjoy the coffee Many thanks KK I home roast and I like it. I've given this a bit of thought. If you were to try it, first have a second ready to use in case it doesn't work. Second, I may use a file. A very small file with a concave cutting surface. The chances of slipping with the Dremel, cutting too deep are great. At least for me, anyway. But leaving it as is, is a good thing too. John Respect the bean.

Ahh the problem is only one glass rod filter I have more tools in my garage now than when I was a tradesman (go figure) I will leave it be However I do have a 1 foot sq sheet of a fine stainless steel mesh that the hole size is smaller than the shaft of a pin I may get the energy to fashion a cone filter and make it a slow drip pour over Need to test it first cos it may be block easy KK I home roast and I like it.
