I have been trying Scott Rao Hario V60 pourover this week. 1:17 and blooming with 2 parts water the first 45 seconds then splitting the rest into 2 pours. A little stirring is included. We like it.

03/04/2021 11:35 AM
My brew ratio is 1:17 (exactly 59.5 g/L). That's roughly 8.5g per 5-oz cup.

I'm looking to hire someone to teach/help me to find the best roast profile for the 3 types of coffee that grow on my farm in nicaragua. I live in LA, but but could go anywhere in so cal with my Behmor for a roasting lesson. Please contact me if you're in

When your wife thinks 30 grams for a 6 cup setting is strong, you learn to drink muddy water when you are making coffee for both of you.

02/17/2021 8:32 AM
I use a rule of thumb of 60 grams per liter. 8 cups (1 liter, 32 oz) = 60 grams, 6 cups (3/4 liter, 24 oz) = 45 grams. 10 cups = 75 grams 12 cups = 90 grams

I was thrilled and exited to be part of the audience while Tim Adams went through his Barista Championships routine

The performance was a down to earth but polished. I enjoyed it very much along with the 100+ crowd watching with me packed to the rafters in a small cafe

I cant say to much about the coffee he will be using or about his signature drink as I don't want to let out a secret that he wants to keep to himself

However I will reveal that the signature drink is very unusual and unique to Australia

He is in group 1 and is due to perform at 2pm Atlanta time 16.April.2009

To view all performances on live feed, please go to the WBC web site below
I believe a link will be added closer to the start date
(If not I will find it and post it here for you ThumbsUp)

I've attended these: We had the Great Lakes barista competition here in MKE, then again at the SCAA last year, and the Midwest competition in February. Everyone should attend one once.

I was struck by the youth ... I see it individually when I go in a shop but you get a true sense of the youth of the sub-industry when you go to a competition. It is a young person's game, for sure.

I can watch for 30 minutes and that is sufficient. Quite a sub-culture.

Some unlucky news for Tim Adams on the eave of the Championships
Tim is now without a job and many of the sponsorship deals have possibly fallen through or in a state of limbo ?

We have started up a support email address for him

I twitter and follow the WBC on it. What I would like to do is handicap it. I love to bet. I will set up a grid and we can pick our favorite(s). For every pick you make, toss in a pound of greens.

Winner takes all.

Thanks, guys...

I haven't gotten a thing done. I just watch baristas all day now...

It is fun, though. Even the Panamanian fellow right now who I cannot understand as I don't speak his language.

Finalists. I am rooting for the Brit, the oldest face in the crowd. If you have ever been to one of these, it is a young person's game:

1. HUNGARY—ATTILA MOLNAR
2. UNITED KINGDOM—GWILYM DAVIES
3. CANADA—SAMMY PICCOLO
4. UNITED STATES—MICHAEL PHILLIPS
5. IRELAND—COLIN HARMON
6. REPUBLIC OF KOREA—LEE JONG HOON
