I have been trying Scott Rao Hario V60 pourover this week. 1:17 and blooming with 2 parts water the first 45 seconds then splitting the rest into 2 pours. A little stirring is included. We like it.

My brew ratio is 1:17 (exactly 59.5 g/L). That's roughly 8.5g per 5-oz cup.

I'm looking to hire someone to teach/help me to find the best roast profile for the 3 types of coffee that grow on my farm in nicaragua. I live in LA, but but could go anywhere in so cal with my Behmor for a roasting lesson. Please contact me if you're in

When your wife thinks 30 grams for a 6 cup setting is strong, you learn to drink muddy water when you are making coffee for both of you.

02/17/2021 8:32 AM
I use a rule of thumb of 60 grams per liter. 8 cups (1 liter, 32 oz) = 60 grams, 6 cups (3/4 liter, 24 oz) = 45 grams. 10 cups = 75 grams 12 cups = 90 grams

Dema . RAL Tamper *Unique*
Koffee Kosmo
Just thought I would pass on information on a new tamper design

Totally different to anything you may have seen in the past

Dema.RAL TAMPERS will tamp the coffee grind at the correct pressure
and uniform thickness “TIME AND TIME AGAIN” removing all doubts
regarding variance in tamping pressure

Best Features are
Adjustable in depth
Level tamp every time

Innovation really messes with the pocket book! Dang it!

So, this is a "volumetric" tamper, then, right? Or, in other words, if you put too little coffee in, it won't tamp it at all.

This will answer your question CHAD B)

Info supplied as answered by Angelo the designer

The reason behind this tamper is to introduce consistency across the board for a franchise company or a chain of coffee shops using set doses not grind on demand, yes if you want a real low dose and is outside of your normal range it wont press it but then again if you consistently drop a low dose you can set-up the tamper to this depth.

I didn't see the price on this one, but implication is $$$.

Thor Tamper's Ridgeline has a similar concept is much easier on the pocket.

Hi Alchemist, The demaral tamper retails at $130 AUD + pos & handling +(GST for Australian customers only)
What is the price on the THOR?
Also! Thor cant have a flange on it as this is pataented!

The Thor tamper is not mechanical / adjustable so I don't think there will be any patent problems.

If you folks have questions about the demaral tampers, ask right here; our very own Angelo Demartis is the manufacturer and can answer your questions directly. So long as it doesn't become marketing, good discussion is always encouraged on Homeroasters.org.
Respectfully,

Google patent search doesn't show any U.S. patents for Angelo Demartis, nor any similar tamper design under any name. How is it listed?

:)The tamper flange has a "Patent Pending" registration in Australia, which allows me to make minor changes to the design. As discussed with our patent attorney it cant be duplicated in any way in any country around the world (Leagely of course).
Angelo Demartis
:)Answer to GVDub's Google search. 1) The name Dema.RAL stands for Demartis R= Richard, A= Angelo L= Lidia.
2) As we are a family business, Richard and Lidia are 2 of my four children involved in the business, the actual business name in which the tamper is registered under is Euro Technology CMR Pty Ltd. Google www.eurotechnologycmr.com and you will learn more about what we do.
Cheers.

Angelo,

My search was specifically for patents (as Google conveniently searches the entire U.S. patent database much more easily than the USPTO search). But as you say your patent is only for Australia and is still pending, that would explain why it doesn't come up.

In the past, members of other sites have dicided to hyjak this discussion and the topic and openly criticize our tamper,
As our MOTTO states!

CRITICISM more often than not, opens the GOLDEN DOOR for discussion!
DICUSSION! More often than not, is the catalyst we seek to bring about change and impruvement!

I thank this site and its members for the lack of tunnel vision and for being open minded about the tamper.
As we say in Australia. FAIR GO MATE! And I thank you all.

Kind Regards
Angelo
