Joe Behm Rocks - Going to SCAA!!!
EddieDove
Hey Folks,

Due to the generosity of Joe Behm, Behmor 1600 inventor extraordinaire, my wife and I have been blessed with two tickets to the SCAA Symposium event in Atlanta, GA! This came as a complete surprise and could not have come at a better time.

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin
Thank you, Mr. Behm!
GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

If any of you are going, my wife and I would sure like to meet you!
Respectfully,

Eddie Dove

That's me in the picture, David! I might not be walking around with that big, toothy grin though ...

I sure would like to get the opportunity to meet you!

I really needed a break from the stress and this could not have cove at a more perfect time. I am so excited about getting to go and I signed up for the intermediate roasting lab, too. You know, I just might be walking around with that big, toothy grin! Grin

Thank you, Mr. Behm!

I got a pass from Joe last year in Minneapolis. Be sure to track him down and thank him. He was genuinely glad to meet the people to whom he supplied passes. BE CAREFUL of all the free coffee - I had a buzz until 4 AM Sunday.

I will be there Friday and Saturday.

I am looking at the Organic Chemistry of Roasting (how geeky is that?) as well as that intermediate roasting lab.

I'll give you a call.

Check out the hostesses in the Brazilian pavillion. Always worthy of a visit, an appreciation, and a coffee, all at the same time.

In Minneapolis last year, the Brazilians had the equivalent square feet of 4 booth spaces, strategically picked for traffic.

Location: End of busy intersection and all open area with a barista who looked like someone out of a movie, complete with black shirt and flowing black hair. Then, they considered the attendees; 97% men.

If you have ever been to Latin America, you know the presentation, similar to what it was here in the 50's. Women served as hostesses and they had that captivating beauty. I will leave it to your imagination from there.

[confession]I attended with FinerGrind and Curly. We made frequent Brazil stops with refills, of various sorts. [/confession].

I pledged to make it to Rio de Janeiro some day. [tiny lie]For coffee. [/tiny lie]

PS: Oh, oh. It worked. I have 30 lbs of this Brazil CoE winging its way from Seattle to Lake Cheddar, even as I type: http://tiny.cc/h7uiY. I wonder if a hostess will deliver it...

Andy Freeman from Coffee Snobs is a top ten finalist

Excerpt:-
For those that are wondering what we are talking about... CoffeeSnobs entered the
"SCAA 2009 ROASTERS CHOICE TASTING COMPETITION"

The Roasters Guild & Specialty Coffee Association of America would like to invite all current Roasters Guild members to participate in the 2009 Roasters Choice Tasting Competition. This event will be held in conjunction with the SCAA?s 21st Annual Conference & Exhibition, April 16-19, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Roasters Choice Tasting Competition is an event intended to highlight the craft of roasting while providing attendees the opportunity to taste some exceptional coffees in a relaxed environment. All exhibition attendees will be provided a ballot with their registration badge allowing them to vote for their favorite; the tasting will be blind. While a ?winner? will be announced, based on the results of the balloting, the chief aim of this event is to celebrate the craft of roasting and to enjoy some good tasting coffee during the conference.

I really like the format of this comp, across 100's of blind tasting judges (if not 1000's) then the winning coffee is the one that on average was the standout.

Where are you catching roasting results? I can't find any news other than WBC results. I was interested in the cupping results as well, not sure what it was entitled. I only caught one tweet in which Geoff Watts was mentioned and he was in that cupping contest.

I like the smiling Eddie in the picture with the Ipanema logo in the background. It shows a 'gotcha' side of the gent that I find, in a word, delightful.

Any of you Geeks know how I might change my browser specs to read differently on KK's link? The white print on dark background is impossible for me to work with...great site but always let it go because of formatting.

I figured it out:

Firefox:

Tools>Options>Content>Colors>Uncheck block of "allow others..."

Unfortunately, that then become the master white everywhere but I can take 12 seconds to code/uncode that on the site from DownUnder.

B|Java, surfing in total white for the moment.

Found it. In Firefox, there is an add-on. It permits you to toggle between the assigned colors (in this case, dark green background and white font) and what I defaulted to (white background and black font). Works like a charm:
