El Salvador SHB Pulp Natural San Emilio

100% Bourbon, pulp natural process, 1400-1600 meters

I just picked up the (giant) 152-pound bag, and will roast some tonight, and provide my thoughts prior to officially offering to you all - but if you're planning to buy some coffee in the next couple of weeks, keep this one in mind. Here are rough prices, and I still have to update my paypal since we've switched banks.

I plan to keep 50lbs... but I haven't tasted it yet...

Up Front Details:
$2.18/lb price
$0.60/lb my fee
$shipping
$paypal fee (2.9% + $0.30)

Example:

15lbs = $3.80/lb
$32.70 -coffee
$9.00 -my fee
$13.50 -flat rate
$1.90 -paypal fee
$57.10 -total

10lbs = $3.90/lb
$21.80 -coffee
$6.00 -my fee
$9.85 -flat rate
$1.40 -paypal fee
$39.04 -total

5lbs = $4.94/lb
$10.90 -coffee
$3.00 -my fee
$9.85 -flat rate
$.99 -paypal fee
$24.74 -total

I will let you know as soon as the coffee will be available (and after I've double-checked my math). Watch This Space!

Roasted tonight to a Full City. Start 536g, finish 442g.

Min tempF
001 109 (medium heat)
002 155
003 192
004 225
005 250 (heat to 90% high)
006 279
007 315
008 343
009 369
010 390 (First crack starts 399F, 10:22)
011 405
012 410 (First crack ends 414F, 12:50)
013 415
014 424 (Stop roast 435F, 14:40 heard two snaps of second crack while dumping to cooler, cool to touch by 16:30)

Next time I'll know to bck down the heat more after the end of first crack to extend roast time by a couple of minutes. Notice the temp jump between 13:00 and 14:00! This hard bean almost got away from me.

I'll try some for the next few days, and let you all know.

Before/After in full sun

I have some 2008 Pulped Natural San Emilio and it is truly wonderful. Very clean, nice body with orange rind and molasses. It's especially good blended with a DP Brazil and bass noted central (I use Oaxaca to finish off the Americas trilogy).

The bag says "crop 2008-2009" So, does that may mean they print the bags for 2 years???

First taste this morning with only 12 hours rest... Ground coffee reminded me of snacking on a heath bar in the woods.

Hot cup was a little ambiguous. I kept thinking of chocolate cake made with whole wheat flour, with a heavy body. Cool cup is now sweeter and the body goes very chewy and hangs around for a while; toffee. No fruits today. Very low acidity, even with my heatgun pseudo-air-rost.

Side-by-side with the Sidamo (that I speed roasted on accident a few days ago) -- the Sid has very thin body and a sharp acidity.

The prices above are good, DJA. I'll give it another couple of days (mostly to see how I like it so I know how much to offer).

Check this out (http://www.sweetm...etable.php) for harvest times. The harvest may straddle the year end, thus the dates on the bag.

Even with only a preliminary taste test, it sounds like a winner to me!

Are you taking advance orders?! Roflmao

Today the body is even bigger and there's a fudge component added, but still some mystery goodness that I can't identify. Wet grounds in the vac pot smell fantastic.

If you'd like to reserve some, just mention in this thread how much you'd like, then I'll contact you via PM to verify shipping and payment.

80lbs available as of 1:48pm CST.

Hi Chad,
I would love to have some but I still have over 100 # in my stash and my wife doesn't even drink coffee. I have been giving some away to friends and need to reduce further before I buy more. My Wife says I got carried away. :)

Thanks for making it available.

Hey CHAD, I'm really temped by your offer.. If you don't sell out quickly I may order some. But my order from Chad at GCBC arrived today - Mexico Organic, HG Oaxaca (Rain Forest Alliance). Hard to believe but he has shipped over 3700 lbs of various greens this month already! -bill
