I have been trying Scott Rao Hario V60 pourover this week. 1:17 and blooming with 2 parts water the first 45 seconds then splitting the rest into 2 pours. A little stirring is included. We like it.

My brew ratio is 1:17 (exactly 59.5 g/L). That's roughly 8.5g per 5-oz cup.

I'm looking to hire someone to teach/help me to find the best roast profile for the 3 types of coffee that grow on my farm in nicaragua. I live in LA, but but could go anywhere in so cal with my Behmor for a roasting lesson. Please contact me if you're in

When your wife thinks 30 grams for a 6 cup setting is strong, you learn to drink muddy water when you are making coffee for both of you.

I use a rule of thumb of 60 grams per liter. 8 cups (1 liter, 32 oz) = 60 grams, 6 cups (3/4 liter, 24 oz) = 45 grams. 10 cups = 75 grams 12 cups = 90 grams

Grinder Upgrade to Mazzer Major
Koffee Kosmo
I have taken my own advice and got a used commercial grinder

A Mazzer Major 14 months old in near new condition
I have done some easy mods to make it work better

Can you help me find a a funnel like this so I can convert my doser model to a doserless (12cm dia)

snapcdn.zoovy.lg1.simplecdn.net/img/espressoparts2/W180-H180-Bffffff/M/maz_180.jpg

This is a Mazzer one but I cant justify its cost @ $231.00 US

I want to convert it to this

Here is a picture of my home set up
The Mazzer Major is the big gunmetal coloured beast, it weighs 20kg/44lbs

I will be testing the difference from both grinders in the coming weeks

If you find one, please let me know also.
I have been looking for a reasonable substitute for a couple of years now.
For the time being I am using a 2-liter soft drink bottle, trimmed down to size [middle section removed, to leave the top and bottom rejoined.] It's cheezey but it works.

Here's an embarrassing picture of the "temporary" I install a long time back. I guess it needs new tape, eh?

David, I've wanted to do that with my Rossi!

What would it cost to have one mf'd out of stainless, I wonder? My wife is awesome and I have commercial, plumbed 220V coffee appliances in the kitchen. If I put a 2 liter bottle on one, I'm afraid of where the gear will have to go!

The one way that I can think of is to have a metal spinner do it
Brass.copper,s/steel, aluminium can all be spun
Its not an unusual size so tooling may be available just waiting to be used

The motor cover and all the other associated fitting parts are available at espresso parts at a reasonable cost
Just the funnel is way to expensive

I was unhappy with the funnel guide plastic thingy for the doser exit throat

So I designed another and fitted it works much better now

I used some sheet aluminium about 1/3mm thick
Cutting is easy just with household scissors
Shaping is easy but gains strength when shaped

I've noticed some of the "energy drinks" come in aluminum bottles now. It shouldn't be too long before the 22oz isn't enough for your average "energy drinker", and they'll be available in 2 liter aluminum bottles next to the lottery tickets and skoal. Cut the end off like David did, and we'll have custom aluminum doserless mods!

Um, is there anything that already comes in a 2 liter aluminum bottle? I want one.

Well, maybe we just need to look a little harder...

4.5" diameter
8.625" high

Will it fit?

I think that for sourcing aluminum cylinders, you can't beat the camping stores. I use a fuel bottle like this one for a camp stove, it has a great taper to the neck. A bit of sandpaper and the red paint would come off to reveal shiny aluminum. The only problem might be the relatively small diameter (3-4in) compared to a two-liter soft drink bottle. The "spout" might not line up centered over the portafilter. I'll bet you could mount it on an angle or something, though.

I havent given up on the idea of a doser-less mod

However the doser is growing on me and I like it

I have done the sweeper mod some time ago and its sweeping extremely clean
Ever the tinkerer I have come up with an invention that is better than the current sweeper mod
