Recommendations for an Aeropress?
Flirting with getting one of these. Sweet Maria's has one for $28. Is that one the best bang for buck? I'm a french press guy, so I'm also curious which types of coffee are best suited for the aeropress...

I'm a french press guy also. And have an Aeropress we use quite a lot.
Both use the same kind of coffees. They both do a great job. If oils matter to you the french press lets 100% of the oils thru. The Aeropress filters most of them out.
Neither of us here can tell the difference. Both do a great job. The Aeropress definitely uses more coffee per volumne to make a single cup.
The french press uses 6 scoops for an 8-cup European rated. Small cups?
Three scoops are required for a single cup(12-13 ounce) using the Aeropress.

In a few days I will be experimenting with Bill Welch's Hamilton Beach Espress machine. I have Sweet Marias Monkey Blend aging right now. Then I will be making Judy's morning cup using the Aeropress while I do my thing.

And will take the Aeropress and Zass when I go camping this summer.

ps: Amazon has them for $23-24+ shipping. They come with 350 pack of filters. I recently bought extra filters from Sweet Marias and timed it so shipping would be free with order for beans.
Aeropress prob cheaper there too if time shipping with bean order.

I have used mine with 100% Kona (amazing) as well as with my house blend and roast I use for espresso. I think any good coffee would be fine in an Aeropress.

Life's too short to drink bad coffee.
Coffee comes out very clean. I brew in a pint glass and filter through my aeropress after pre-wetting the filter with hot water. No better way to brew for the money! (or possibly at all)

I love my aeropress and it was sooo inexpensive, I bought 2 one for home and one for camping.

Make sure you're getting the newer BPA free presses. Thom's selling the safe ones. Dunno about anyone else.

Respect the bean.

I too love the aeropress (especially at work). On in the forums is an absurdly long thread discussing all manner of all things relating to the aeropress (with plenty of commentary from its inventor). In particular, I found very valuable the discussion of INVERTED pressing of the coffee. It sounds as tricky as ballet, but simply is harder to put into words than to do. The first couple of times you try it, have a sink nearby.

Here is the take-away. If you invert the aeropress to brew, you can make sure maximum coffee oils end up in your cup instead of buried the puck. Thus, taste and mouthfeel approaches a proper press cup.

My lovely bride surprised me with a travel hand grinder (Kyocera ceramic), which I pair with the AP and a Bodum travel elec kettle. Now that's a cuppa!
