A bar was required across the hopper to keep it from losing heat flowing underneath - the hopper would bounce on occasion from the pressure under 1.2 kilograms (2.65 pounds). Also had to redo the hole pattern. It had the correct number of 1/8" holes, but the holes were spread out over 4 square inches. I had to condense the same number of holes into about 2 square inches for the coffee to circulate properly. After all that, the roaster can roast 2.65 pounds to second crack in just under 20 minutes. It can roast 1.75 pounds to second crack in 14 minutes. Hope the customer is satisfied because the next step would have to be adding heat element(s). CHAD Roaster: CoffeeAir II 2# DIY air roaster

**Update** Every so often I get an email or message about this original CoffeeAir II project from 2010. I'm still using it 6 years later in 2016. The only thing I've had to do as far as maintenance is replace one of the two heat elements. CHAD Roaster: CoffeeAir II 2# DIY air roaster

CHAD It looks like the product link has changed: https://www.oreil...30?q=12007 Now that it's been some time since the build, how's the silicone held up and is there a reason why the switch from the high-temp red rtv (used in prior builds) to the clear? Halfway through a cement board heating element enclosure that will need to hold pressure from vac blower and considering the following products: https://www.homed.../202218156 https://www.amazo...B01F9HCCFE Also have on hand the permatex high-temp red rtv gasket maker in a tube... any advice appreciated, Jake |
