Sunbeam Coffee Master
dja
Ok, I bought a Sunbeam coffee Master Vac Pot, only problem is that it is missing a couple peices.

The tube that the water goes up and down I can make, no problem.
Cord I can find.
Cloth Filter, it had plenty of em inside.

Gasket that goes between the bowls, I can't make, and have no idea where to locate one, so come on guy's help me out. Who knows were to aquire a new gasket???????????Shock

If I can see what is required I may be able to suggest a product

If its a regular looking gasket
I suggest a sheet of the appropriate thickness automotive rubberised cork It will handle the heat, water, and will expand and contract

Perhaps a good idea is to contact "Sunbeam" and see if they have an e-mail address or phone number you can call.

Good luck

I haven't taken a picture of the coffee maker yet, its a 40's 50's sunbeam coffee master c-20-a model.
its missing the gasket that goes between the two pots and the tube that the water percs up thru to the top pot.

If I could find someone that has one and they would take some measurements of the tube I can make it.

The gasket I don't know if a flat rubber gasket will work or not, I have both 1/8 and 1/4 high temp red rubber that I am going to try and see if it will seal, but without the tube there is no way to know if the pot will make coffee.

This thing is a beautiful heavy crome art deco pot will post a pic later this today.

David.

David,

I've got a Cory Nicro stovetop and Cory electric vacuum brewer with functional gaskets but give off a burnt tire aroma which you can smell in the brew (nasty).

I can find old gaskets out there but they will most likely have the same problem due to being old.

I understand you know of a way to make your own?

easiest way is to make a mold out of silicone using a functional gasket as a pattern, then use the two part mold to make however many gaskets you need.
if it lots of gaskets that your wanting I would go to someone that is in the business of making gaskets.
if its just say 10 0r 15 gaskets then I would go to someone like Freemans Foundy Supply. they sell a sample kit that has enough of the materials you would need to make a mold of a gasket then all you have to do is find food safe Silicone in a liquid form to pour the mold with. and volia you have your nice new and whatever designer color gasket you want in your hand 2 to 24 hours later. I don't know the setup time on the rubber products.
it would be a nice winter basement project, if your wanting to make a couple hundred gaskets I would proof in the rubber fashion, then make aluminum injection mold for the run.
I'm suprised that someone hasn't already did this. some people will just clean the bottom of the pot pile siicone adhesive one one of the pots then push them together. sometimes it works, sometimes it don't
Any questions give a shout!

Thanks for the info. I thought these brewers would have to stay in moth balls forever.

I'm going to do some looking around to see if I can get hold of a sample kit and give it a try. I'll only be making a couple each.

Ok received my Sunbeam Coffee Master C-30 A that I was fortunate enough to aquire in a EBay auction, haven't been able to try it out yet due to ending up in the hospital.
Thats going to change in the morning, hospital coffee leaves a lot to be desired, as matter of fact I don't desire it at all.

For anyone with one of these coffee pots, I have lucked onto a site that has replacement gaskets for some of the models. So anyone with a gasket that leaves your morning cup tasting like and ole truck tire, or that has stopped using your Sunbeam Vac Pot due to this awful taste may want to check it out.

Check out http://www.dayseal.com/
I emailed them and they said that they would have gaskets availble for the C-30 and the C-20 models in approximately thirty days. this is not an advertisement for the outift just pasing along some infor that I found that may help other people with their coffee makers.ThumbsUp

one more try at posting pictures. Ok looks like something is going to go right.
One of my Sunbeam Coffee Master C-20 B models. these things are all most indestructable. made out of heavy gauge metal and chrome plating that rivals some of the chrome I've seen on custom motorcycles.

Cool looking vac pot!

Does it automatically kill power after a set brewing time?

looks even better with some of these in it and steam coming out the top

It drops from high which is the brew temp to a setting that is lower, or you can manually trip the switch if you think that the bottom pot is going to run dry, the thermostats are adjustable on both settings.

There things were really build to last, one of mine was made in the 40's and it still works, although i don't have all the peices for it, need the little tube that screws into the bottom of the top pot, and a gasket, the gasket I have covered, the tube I am going to have to make, unless I find a really cheap buy at the flea market or thrift store.

So I'm assuming that once the majority of the water has moved into the upper chamber the temp sensed by one of the stats rises and kicks it into low power to just hold the water in the upper chamber to agitate and steep for around 4 minutes.

I guess if there is a rise in temperature as the lower pot drops water level while steeping then the second stat kills all power for it to drop the coffee into the lower chamber?

If it does all the above it's quite an automated setup.

BTW, I contacted Dayseal and they informed me that if I send them my Cory Nicro and electric Cory gaskets they will make the molds and make me one each of my gaskets for around $24.00 ea. with free shipping. They also said to give them around 30 days to get them made. I guess they must be counting on future sales of these gaskets to cover their mold costs. This is a great deal!
