Flooding Water Everywhere QLD Aust

Administrator Posts: 1620 Joined: December 31, 2008	My City and the whole State of Queensland Australia is under siege from flooding By 3 pm Wednesday 12th/Jan/2011 local time my home in Brisbane may be under water the river has already broken its banks as of an hour ago Based on the last major flood in Brisbane of 1974 if the water level reaches that level we will lave an instant lake on our from doorstep If the water level exceeds the 1974 level we will go under This is due in part from dams at 200% capacity and king tides from the bay & ocean acting against each other making an already bad situation worse So if you don't hear from me for a while you will know why Signing off for now Koffee Kosmo I home roast and I like it. Administrator Posts: 1620 Joined: December 31, 2008	Just spent several hours moving items to the highest part of the house Had a sports drink Got straight to it again and filled about 40 sand bags to seal the front door Will keep a watch on the water if it comes up so I can move the car to the top of the street. The first high water peak is expected in 5 hours at around 3 am Need coffee to stay awake as my body is spent out Sighing off for now KK I home roast and I like it. Administrator Posts: 1620 Joined: December 31, 2008	I am glad to say that I am alive and well My house was spared however in an adjoining street some 12 homes were affected However just in my suburb I would guess that over 1000 homes were affected Just to paint a picture of the city topography The river is snake shaped with many U shaped sections not all are low lying We live in one of those sections at about mid height We have been without power / phone / internet for several days and only just restored in our street Some worst affected sections are still without power Streets are still not passable and detours are everywhere Have been helping the affected neighbours over the last few days and going to work as well and I am pretty tired That's all for now KK I home roast and I like it. Administrator Posts: 1620 Joined: December 31, 2008	Its also our storm season in these parts I am proud of the assistance offered by the thousands of volunteers to affected people Some people were devastated again as insurance companies would not honour the policy stating that it does not cover a flood event (its all in the wording) If it was not for there willing to get dirty the city would not be such a nice place to live in Proud as punch on one level But bemused with some insurer's KK I home roast and I like it.
