Koffee Kosmo
New on the market and recently released
Are the machined VST Filter Baskets for espresso machines that use a 58mm basket & are currently available in 3 sizes

These were brought to my attention sometime ago
Now selling for an introductory price of $25 each

What do HRO members think of the concept of fitting a precision made basket to ones espresso machine

I'd like to read a review or know what is different about them.

Thanks for the link. Those are cool!

They have precise, balanced, and reduced back pressure when judged against all others. This means you can grind finer, get a more complete and balanced extraction both in solids and flavor. The difference is remarkable. This is one great step towards fixing a flawed brew method and will open the door to more interesting coffee options for espresso extraction. HIGHLY recommended.

My problem is that I dont have any problems with making coffee

I currently use an 18 gr Synesso basket and find it easy
I understand the point of difference with precision holes in the VST baskets

We have a saying down under
If it aint broke dont fix it

I am sure that there are benefits to flavour and that will sway my decision to at least try one for myself
And that's my curious cat side

I'd say it absolutely IS broke! Why do espresso blends have to incorporate mostly tame coffees to taste balanced? The VST baskets allow brighter coffees to be ground finer in order to extract more caramels to hold up to the acidity.

I plan to buy one after I confirm that it will fit my E-61 portafilter handle.

If you don't have a good grinder, you'll get lots of spritzing since you MUST now rely exclusively on the puck to provide resistance (as the system should be), and therefore grind finer.

I will chalk this one up
"To the pursuit of Excellence"

Will look at some local sources to purchase I am sure a few speciality places would have purchased in bulk to have the baskets available for sale

Let me know if you end up finding a local source.

Ouch, thought I might order a couple online, all good until the shipping page, $85.75 shipping to Aus for a $50 order.

If anyone finds an Australian supplier or US that uses USPS then let me know please.

Meanwhile, I expect I will have to fire up the cnc........

What! They don't use USPS Int'l Flat Rate? How horrid. Send them an email asking for special treatment.
Koffee Kosmo
Yes I have emailed VST
They said that the system is playing up on international shipping charges and they will charge the correct amount of postage
Just leave a note in the comments page
