Wow! Is that stainless? Are you converting your lawn roller into a roasting drum?

Yeah, but foundries are kinda hard to come by. My high volume stuff I cant do in cast iron.....would take forever. This will be for my commercial stuff. ;)

Looks very nice Pete! Be sure to budget in some copper or maybe even gold leaf to *bling* out the exterior of the roaster! ;) CHAD Roaster: CoffeeAir II 2# DIY air roaster

Hey, with a little more fabrication and some hammered copper or brass you'd have a nice Royal #5 replica. http://www.oldcof...tled-3.jpg Allen 1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

Very Nice! .....but I'm with Dan.... there has to be some cast iron. It's a pre-requisite of the brand! ...Really Nice, looking forward to your first roast. -Scott |

Yes, yes...I will affix cast iron to it somehow. My rpm math is off and I have to figure a way around this. I think its too fast at this time. I am probably going to have to go to a jack shaft setup.

No, we are at 37ish. 60 and the beans wouldnt fall as well. There was really a fine line. I will have to fiddle a bit and see how it goes but I think I am pretty close, from the sounds of it.

I had to stay down to slightly less than 30 rpm on my radiant 1 lbr to keep the beans from lofting out into the internally mounted quartz tubes. Agitation is fine but I'm not getting as much chaff separation as I'd like. Allen 1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

37rpm with a larger diameter is the same as 60rpm with a smaller diameter, right? Should be good to go! Man, this is exciting. Soon you'll be offering a kit for sale? CHAD Roaster: CoffeeAir II 2# DIY air roaster

I tried 5# of junk I had the other day, went over a little on the temp. Got to get a feel for the temp yet, regardless of what the thermometer says. This thing really is a huge heat sink. Got to keep it from ramping up too fast. Got to get a piece of ceramic glass for a sight window and cut it in. This will help me a lot. Need a psi gauge too for the propane. This will give me a consistant fire. |

Quote WHOA Tiger!! While we kinda put this together on the fly, sorta. The motor would have to be something different. I dont think it would sell without sex appeal. The motor thing could get plenty pricey if I went for a variable speed. People wouldknt want all the pulleys and belts. You know me well enough to know I am all about practicality and fixability. |
