I am going to get some food grade tubing and clean the ends real well. Make a drop in basket reciever of sorts. It says rainbow on the top and was intended to be used with a water bath.

I missed a step. Will adapt old ends to new tubing. Any way this thing sounds like a jet engine! I just tried it once and it needs a plug. More later

It's a Rexair Rainbow 'D-2' with the extra large water tank. This machine played a role in the naming of 'R2D2' of "Star Wars" fame. One of these was the powerplant of the first roaster I ever built. Sadly , no photos survived of the ugly beast. The blower/motor is great. 3 fans, ball-bearing, bypass blower. All metal housings+ bypass = very heat tolerant. The water tank won't do you much good unless it is the aluminum one(pretty rare) Good Luck! -Scott Edited by JETROASTER on 06/06/2012 3:08 PM |

I wouldnt be using a water bath in a bean cooler. Im hoping to configure a reciever basket at the same plane that the hose enters the side, kind of shaped like a cake tin made of fryer basket mesh. It could just remove the basket after cooling.

Sorry, I spoke too soon. The early D-2 models were a flow-thru motor. This means the 'working' airflow is what cools the motor. For a small batch of coffee this would probably still be OK. Later models kept the motor section separate from the working air...using a smaller fan to keep the motor cool. There is also a chance that it was converted somewhere during its lifetime. -Scott

Those triple impeller vacuum motors are hard to come by unless you buy new. |

All I could think of in the first pic was it saying the ubiquitous: "Take me to your leader." LOL |

Cool product! The vacuum reminds me of my 'Huggy' builds. Send me your vacuum and all I need is two gearmotors, a 6-channel RC xmitter (with V-tail control), a wireless mic setup, a pitch-shfiter, a handful of servos, and a big battery...hummm..
