I have been trying Scott Rao Hario V60 pourover this week. 1:17 and blooming with 2 parts water the first 45 seconds then splitting the rest into 2 pours. A little stirring is included. We like it.

My brew ratio is 1:17 (exactly 59.5 g/L). That's roughly 8.5g per 5-oz cup.

I'm looking to hire someone to teach/help me to find the best roast profile for the 3 types of coffee that grow on my farm in nicaragua. I live in LA, but but could go anywhere in so cal with my Behmor for a roasting lesson. Please contact me if you're in

When your wife thinks 30 grams for a 6 cup setting is strong, you learn to drink muddy water when you are making coffee for both of you.

I use a rule of thumb of 60 grams per liter. 8 cups (1 liter, 32 oz) = 60 grams, 6 cups (3/4 liter, 24 oz) = 45 grams. 10 cups = 75 grams 12 cups = 90 grams

Starbucks... again
Dan
Why is it that when some people hear you are into roasting coffee bring you roasted coffee to try? If only they brought greens! On top of that, they don't bring good coffee.

I got two bags of coffee at our family reunion last week. One was interesting, direct from a trip to Costa Rica. The other was from Starbucks. It was from their Tribute blend. Five different beans resulting in coffee that is "spicy and full-bodied with berry and dark cherry notes." Never mind that the hyphen doesn't belong. The coffee was what you'd expect, over roasted. Not by much, but still a few degrees past prime, to me. It was reasonably fresh, no more than 7-10 days old. Full bodied? No. Berry and cherry? No. What really surprised me was the amount of defects. Here's a spoonful from the middle of the bag. I hate to think what the bottom will look like!

On the upside, it's partially preground for press!

yes, many do.

my sister was in Dallas and said she passed them by at the Whole Foods since she knew I would make some comment about quality even if they were wrapped in China silk...
