Thanks to Jedovaty (Thanks Jano!) I am close to having an actual TO roaster. I have seen some builds with plastic buckets, steel pots, and other RCs. Is there any particular material that suits TO roasting more than another, aside from heat resistance considerations? |

Yay! I wouldn't use plastic buckets... The most accepted item is stainless steel. I've seen some setups with glass and ceramic bowls. If you want instant gratification, start with a stir-crazy or bread maker. This way, you won't have to make any real mods to get agitation going. The bread makers are probably cheapest, I saw some at a local goodwill store ranging $3-10 when I went last year. It'd be sort of a spin on the HGBM setup. The next options all involve getting some combo of motor with agitation arms. At this point, you'll need to work with a SS pot, dog bowl, some kind of dutch oven, glass bowl, etc, drill out a hole, and get a rotating arm hooked up to a motor. |
