Hey there. I am picking up an old HotTop tomorrow, as an upgrade from my current Caf? Gene roaster. I have been reading a bit around about the HotTop, and found out that it features 2 filters - a top filter and a back filter. I am planning to replace the back filter with a 120mm aluminum fan gitter is explained in this guide: http://www.frcndi...ilter.html Now I am wondering though, what should I do with the top filter? Can I just leave it as it is? Clean it once in a while (how?), or replace it with something whole different? Any other comments about recommended mods or anything else about the hottop would be much appreciated. Thanks already! Edited by ginny on 05/03/2013 6:25 PM |

I have only replaced my top filter once in several years. I will wash it next time. I wash the rear filter every 20 roasts. Ken in NC --------------

When I replaced my top filter, it made a BIG difference in the speed of the roast. Here is the link: http://www.home-b...25804.html edit to fix link only Edited by ginny on 07/07/2013 9:38 PM Life is too short to drink bad wine ... or bad coffee!
