Laws and health codes
Hello, I've had the idea to sort of publicly sample out my coffee, possibly for an optional voluntary donation(s). I'm having a bit of trouble finding out what sort of health codes and standards I'd have to meet in order to do this though. I live in Alaska, I think they're state by state?
Hi there
You would then fall under the category of being a food manufacturer. Next would be to determinethe level or risk the food product is under.
Luckily, coffee is classed as low risk and as such compliance is less strict.
You still need to have your premises compliant with relative codes etc regarding food manufacturing. Things such as hand wash facilities, sinks in which you would sanitise/wash equipment (such as containers and scoops) etc.
This is just the basics.

it only depends on your city/county/township since laws change from city to city, place to place. you may need to do NOTHING or you may need to jump hoops.

where do you want to do this on a street corner or at a local farmer market? you can perhaps go to a local grocery store and do it there; the possibilities are endless depending on where you plan to test your beans.
