Coffee lover from Turkey
kahveuno
Hi from Turkey. I am a serious coffee lover, and an incurably curious engineer.

Well then, with those two, engineer + coffee lover, you will either be continually tweaking a nice store-bought roaster or building your own in the very near future!

When you get a chance, post a quick bio on yourself and how you roast or if not roasting now, let us know your preferred brewing methods.

Big Welcome to HRO!

Thank you for the warm welcome.
I attached 3 pictures to answer your questions. First 2 pictures show some of my home brewing setup. BTW the pictures are a few years old. There you can see the signs of a coffee freak.coffee drink
I am a newbie in home roasting. 3rd picture is my home roasting setup. (If you accept heat-gun as a roaster).
Building my own drum roaster is my main goal in joining this forum. I found most of the necessary information in this forum, and I am still digging ThumbsUp

Heatgun and bowl is a coffee roaster in my book! From the looks of your coffee equipment spread, you definitely qualify for coffee freak or at least coffee fanatic which most of us proudly claim for ourselves as well.

Be sure to bounce design ideas and questions off of us as they come up during your drum build.

Oh, what is the coffee appliance in the middle photo behind the aeropress?

I have the single-pitcher version of the Beko automatic Turkish coffee maker (like half of your machine) and it makes a wonderful cup of coffee very easily. It is one of mine and my wife's favorite coffee beverages! We need to get some fresh cardamon, but I made one with cinnamon and it was fantastic. Welcome to or group!

It is a full automatic Turkish coffee maker. Below is the link of the appliance (Arcelik K-3190). It is also sold under Beko brand as BKK-2113 (basically the same thing). You can find several videos for these coffee makers, but I am not sure if they sell them outside of Turkey.

Actually, I am happy with the heatgun-bowl method. I have a thermocouple attached under the bowl, which is not seen in the picture. It does not give a correct temperature reading for the bean, however, it gives me an indication of how the roast temperature is going.
I am not an experienced roaster. I have been roasting with the heatgun for the last six months and trying different roasting profiles. Building a drum roaster is in my long term plan after I feel confident in roasting.
I am happy to find this forum and I am now sure that I am at right place ThumbsUp

Thanks Randy G.
A bit of additional information about the coffee maker. Two pitcher and one pitcher versions make the same quality coffee (if you have fresh roasted and very fine grinded coffee, of course). The only difference is that the two pitcher version has an internal pump and a water tank to fill the pitchers automatically.

I think this is the post KK: Way back in 2009. We should put it in the download area.
