I got my 10# of beans today, they arrived in great shape. Thanks for sending them out so promptly. I will roast 1# tomorrow and see how they do. After a few days rest I'll post my spin on how they taste.

I'll probably roast them to FC or FC+ unless someone has other reccomendations.

Ok, now for my initial roasting experience with this coffee.

I noticed right away that this bean seemed to be somewhat heat resistant; approached 11 min to 1C both roasts. Interesting. Most coffees, I see 1C between 9:30-10:30.

Took 1st roast to first few snaps of 2C, flavors were muted but very smooth cup. 2nd roast was taken into active 2nd C; definitely removed all traces of origin, strong "roast" flavor.

I will roast this coffee again but take it to no more than before 2nd C.
Most likely I will do lighter roasts to develop flavor/acidity. Details when available.

Hey again, Re-roasted this coffee and dropped it at 420F and 429.6 F with a 21% roast development after 1C on both.

I will start by stating that I believe the moisture content on this coffee is a bit high; 170.2 grams took 9:36 to get to 1C for 1st roast, and nearly that for 2nd roast. Found a loss of around 17%/weight for both roasts. Most coffees give me around 15% and take a shorter time to get to 1C for my normal 227g measure. The appearance of the beans is darker like decaf beans as well, further evidence of higher moisture.

Meanwhile, the roast(s). The 429.6F roast was well developed, flavors balanced between acidity and roast. Unfortunately, I have a slight cold and could not pick up individual flavors out of the roasts. I do however, like this roast level for this particular coffee.

The 420F roast was of course, more acidic. Nicely bright if that is your thing. Again, my cold prevented detecting nuances but it was still a nice cup. Both of these were with only an overnight rest, so I will come back with more details after a day or two more rest on each.

Happy Roasting!
