hearsay BM build
I've been lurking for over a year, grateful to have discovered this community and pushing me into the Corretto realm from the smaller roasts in a popcorn popper.

I'm attempting to modify a West Bend "America's Favorite" BM which has wiring unlike any posted in this thread. There are only two wires exiting the motor instead of the typical three. The wires also do not directly enter a capacitor, but instead go into a circuit board. This is thus leaving the a bit confused, but I'll list my logic and images below.

The image below shows the two wires, yellow & white, as they come up from the exterior wall plug. The white cord splits itself into two white cords at that 90 deg joint, one going to the motor, the other going to the circuit board. The yellow cord goes directly to the circuit board. The black cord in the image isn't actually coming out of the wall plug, but is instead just going from motor to circuit board.

Below, the black and white cords are entering/leaving the motor.

And finally below, we have the black/white/yellow wires entering the circuit board. I'm guessing that the blue box is the cap, but that may be more wild guess than anything.

My logic on what is what is as follows: Working from the larger prong whose wire has the striped texture, I believe that I can tell that the white cord is the AC Out. This would leave the yellow cord being AC In(?). However, the yellow cord never goes directly into the motor. Instead it heads into the circuit board, and a black cord connects circuit board to motor. Would the AC In always go directly to the motor instead of circuit board? You see my dilemma.

Clearly I don't have a lot of electrical experience and want to handle this 120v motor safely. Any input on which cords should be joined would be appreciated.
If your description is accurate, the yellow wire is the hot wire that powers the board. This is mains voltage. Power flows through the board in two ways. First it goes to the grey box, which is a transformer that converts mains voltage to low voltage for the electronics on the board. Second, it goes to the blue box, which is a relay (switch). The black wire comes out of the relay and powers the motor, when the electronics activate the relay. This is also mains voltage. The white wires are the mains neutral wires. Any of these wires can kill you if you touch them, or if you touch the right spot on the board, when the machine is plugged into the wall socket. I don't see a capacitor for the motor unless it is contained in the housing. Motors don't necessarily have to have a capacitor to work correctly, it just depends on the application.

I'm not an electronics expert, so anyone feel free to correct me if any of that is wrong.

Howdy hearsay, for clarification purposes, can you read what's on the side of the blue item on the control board. I, like HTO have mostly only seen relays on the board but I have seen one example where the cap was on the board. I can say that I've never seen any BM that didn't have a relay and cap in the mix. OTOH, there's most likely DC motors in some BM's that obviously don't need a start cap but that motor is not a DC motor.

Also, shoot us the model number from this BM.

Allenb, the blue box on the board says "12A 120VAC/28VDC. OEG SRUDH-SS-109DM1. 9 VDC 275"

I believe that the model number may be 41065. but it's a bit difficult to read.

HTO was correct in that the blue guy is the motor relay but since the motor is clearly an AC motor I'm puzzled that there isn't a start cap somewhere because these motors are notoriously wimpy at starting without an initial boost.

I wonder if the start cap in mounted inside the motor housing. Never seen one like that but you never know.

Can you trace the AC line in goes from the plug?
