I found out that fakepath is browser related. A security feature that hides the file's origin path. In IE, check Internet Options >> Security >> Correct Zone >> Custom Level >> down in the Miscellaneous section "include local directory.. Chrome also does this. I use Firefox and never see this fakepath. ---Jack

More about the FakePath thing: "According to the specifications of HTML5, a file upload control should not reveal the real local path to the file you have selected. This requirement is already implemented in Internet Explorer 8 - the real path to the file will be shown only if the page that contains the control is added to the trusted sites collection of the browser." Firefox seems to be the only browser that works without changing settings. ---Jack

Auto URL conversion? I know from other forums that it is not perfect, but it is a feature of every other forum that I post to. |

Maybe I missed it - is there a way to jump to the first unread post in a thread? It would be faster than scrolling though a full page of posts trying to find the newest one.

Does the "Jump to forum" drop-down box actually do anything? It does nothing for me in either Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Automatic URL conversion. When you type a link like http://www.example.com. The add on or extension sees it and converts it to a clickable link automatically. I don't know if the newer version of PHP can do this. There might be an add on or extension available. ---Jack

As JackH said ... On some forums, if you put a url like http://blah... in a message, then the forum software will automatically put [ url] tags around the url when the message is posted. vBulletin does this (or has an add-on that does), as does phpBB. I did a quick search for PHP-Fusion but only found a dead add-on for v6 https://www.php-f...d_id=17685- but I am totally clueless when it comes to PHP-Fusion. |

It seems like a lot of trouble when a couple of mouse clicks does the job. When you copy your link, it is already stored in the computer's clipboard and can be simply pasted after clicking the "make link live button" at the bottom of the edit screen. Two mouse clicks. .

so all know I have zero intent on changing forum software... if there is no add-on, it is EASY to make a link live. I never understand why a simple thing is so difficult for intelligent people. ginny |
