Trying to start a Fluidbed project
Airhan
A long while ago I purchased a fan that I thought would be good for a future fluid bed roaster, now I'm thinking about building it again.

I got a Ametek Windjammer Model#116618-01 which is quite large (the impeller/fan is 9inches in diameter), and seems to move a lot of air. I used an amenometer to figure it puts out about 90cfm, but I don't know about pressure.

Is it likely that this would be able to loft 1-2 lbs of beans? More?

I was unable to find any specs through ametek. I would take a shot at 10" water lift. That's 10 times more pressure than a squirrel cage, but about ten times less than a vucuum blower. Good Luck. Cheers, Scott

That style blower might work in a sonofresco type arrangement (high airflow/low restriction).
CFM will drop considerably in a more restricted environment. (small perf plate etc).
Hope that helps. Cheers, Scott

Aaron, for ease of use and quick building, it's a good idea to go ahead with a vacuum motor instead of trying out other methods. However, by all means, try other methods! I have - with little success. Scott JETROASTER is a fantastic resource, so take his advice!

Thanks, but I couldn't even spell vacuum correctly....and I'm in the business! Even if that blower doesn't play out for the roasting, it would be excellent for a cyclonic separator or a bean cooler. Cheers, -Scott
