I finally have a video made of my gas conversion of my 2 lb (upgradable to 4 lb.) capacity fluid bed roaster, unique negative air pressure, spout design. Special shout out to Allen for giving me guidance on the gas hookup to the burners. The video is done by a non-professional video director (me) so my apologies on the sometimes poor quality of the shoot. Any questions on the stuff just ask and I will do my best answering. https://youtu.be/... Also I want to have the video show here on HR but the youtube embed link isn't working. Mods? Thanks Jack for fixing the video so it shows. Also for some reason it starts at around 9 mins in, at least on my PC. Anyone watching should make sure it starts at the beginning. Appears to be a weird youtube fluke. Len "If this is coffee, please bring me some tea but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee." ~Abraham Lincoln

Hi Len, It seems to start at the beginning for me. The video command works but you have to use the full link to the video. Does not seem to work with the shortened links. ---Jack

Hi Len, very cool concept with the negative pressure flow design! That must have taken much thought to bring all the components together to function properly. Glad the gas tubing method worked out well. Watching how the burner heat is pulled down into the lower roaster plenum reminds me of how some of the rocket stoves function I've seen over the years. Very cool! I think you and Scott have the two most unique burner designs of all I've seen. ![]() Allen 1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

Hey Allen, its funny how you mention the rocket stove thing. I actually have a rocket stove. I built it a couple years ago and use it during the winter in my workshop. I get alot of pallets that acccumulate from perforated sheet metal deliveries and I use that wood in the rocket stove. I added a batch burner to it so the burns last alot longer. Using that I am able to load the wood about every 1/2 hour instead of every 15 minutes. Regarding the roaster burners: Funniest thing, the right burner off the tee does not light as quickly as the left burner. Nothing is different between the 2. Jets are the same, proximity to the ignitor the same. Just a quirky thing that I had to fool with until I got it just right. The left burner would light but the right one would not; gas would come out and the ignitor would be red hot, just would not light. Weird thing. It's good to find another rocket stove fan. I experimented with various types of downdraft rocket stoves while trying to come up with a mini sized log burning contraption that would produce a clean smoke for BBQ pits. Was looking for that magical ratio of flame to smoke that ends up burning most of the nastier off-gasses from wood combustion while leaving the portion responsible for the spicy clean smoke taste one gets from a well behaved log burner pit. It's great what a lot of generous folks have done in third world countries by equipping people with a cleaner, safer way to heat and cook with the rocket stove concept. Hey Allen, a couple years ago I fashioned a PID controlled BBQ from a former gasification heater I had made from two 55 gallon barrels. Maybe it has some ideas you can use. Here is the video: Here are a couple real funky videos I made of a downdraft wood gasifier I made about 5 or so years ago. It was quite a project: Len P.S. Weird thing again, my youtube vids do not show. I did not use the shortened URL, however when I look at the HTML code of this page the URL gets hacked for some reason to a non working youtube URL. Funny thing. Edited by coffeeroastersclub on 04/07/2020 8:29 AM "If this is coffee, please bring me some tea but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee." ~Abraham Lincoln

Try putting the youtube link inside video tags instead of youtube tags. |

I edited and inserted the video tag instead of youtube. Some devices have difficulty displaying videos with the youtube tag. Might be because of the flash player. ---Jack
