Hot top gears stripped

Newbie Posts: 7 Joined: January 25, 2018	Hi guys, my hot top has stripper a gear.. ive only had it for a lil over a year now hot top wants 120+ for a new motor and gearbox assembly any idea? Is this normal year and some Months dont seem like a long time.

Newbie Posts: 15 Joined: November 03, 2018	I can't say anything about failure rate on the roasters, not sure anyone can, but parts are kinda pricey. Any idea how it happened? Any warnings? My HT kinda makes a pop every now and then. Just wondering if I am going to be needing a new motor/gearbox soon myself. When you get to the repair, it would be awesome if you could post what you found the problem to be. I'd prob breakdown the gearbox and replace gears and keep it as backup. At least I'd give it a try.

What was the outcome of this repair? 1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

1/4 Pounder Posts: 69 Joined: October 02, 2016	My Hottop is 9 years old. No problems like that. I have changed the filters a few times. I do take it apart for a deep clean once a year. I clean the drum, glass door, connected parts. Top filter housing. After 10 or so roasts... If it squeaks, clean it...
