I have been trying Scott Rao Hario V60 pourover this week. 1:17 and blooming with 2 parts water the first 45 seconds then splitting the rest into 2 pours. A little stirring is included. We like it.

My brew ratio is 1:17 (exactly 59.5 g/L). That's roughly 8.5g per 5-oz cup.

When your wife thinks 30 grams for a 6 cup setting is strong, you learn to drink muddy water when you are making coffee for both of you.

I use a rule of thumb of 60 grams per liter. 8 cups (1 liter, 32 oz) = 60 grams, 6 cups (3/4 liter, 24 oz) = 45 grams. 10 cups = 75 grams 12 cups = 90 grams

Behmor 1600, environment temp
Hello, long time no post.

I have a batch of brazilian coffee, grown at some 1200m high. The problem with these beans is that they don't "crack", they roast in silence.

After lots of lost batches, I was able to get good results (1c medium light) based in P2 and time.

But it seems the roaster is affected by environment temperature - normal temp (say 23 deg C) good roast, lower temp (18 deg C) darker roast, higher temp (30 deg C) lighter roast.

Did someone else notice this effect or is it my unit? Are there some compensation curves?

Not sure what your question is. Are you asking if anyone knows why you're not getting any cracks (Silent roast)? Or are you asking if it's unusual for a roaster to be affected by environmental temps? I've had beans that cracked very little, I don't know why. I believe that all roasters are affected by environmental temps. Hope that helps a little.
Environment temperature influences, obviously... I think roughly 1% more power needed for every Celsius degree.
When I roast outside when less than 20 C, I need to raise power to almost 80%, vs the usual 72-75% used when inside in the 22-24 C ballpark.
The opposite, in the summer, when more than 30 C, I can drive the same roast even with 64-65%
If you have Behmor programs specifications, you can figure a way to compensate this factor. Else... experiment Grin
