May be an easy question but if I have a 120rpm Moyer and needed to adjust it down to 60rpm, would I just put a gear on the shaft and a gear half the size on the axel of the drum? Or is there more math involved? |

If by "half the size" you mean half teeth count, then you are right. |

Smaller gear (A) on motor, larger (B) on drum

Thanks all. I was hoping it was that simple. I purchased a nice motor with a 68RPM speed off of ebay and then got a notice they couldnt find it. I had to go with a 166RPM so I plan to gear it down. I think I will do an 11 tooth to 28 tooth and it should slow me down to 65.35 RPM. |

May the gear be with you ! https://www.servo...nion-gears My approach would be to use a belt, not direct drive, less wear, heat isolation, shock attenuation (if a hard bean or a small stone block the drum)... and probably other smaller benefits. Edited by renatoa on 08/03/2019 4:36 AM |

My choice of drive and used on my 1 lb drum roaster is the synchronous drive sprockets and belts components as seen here: https://www.autom...sprockets)
