Burning out a motor on BM?
SturdNerd
Hey there! I had a BM roaster for about two years before it finally died on me (hundreds of pounds). Since then, I've made three others the same way and they only seem to last a month or so before the motor just dies. Are there any pitfalls I should be looking out for or things I'm doing wrong?

I was wondering if the 120V was too much for the motor to handle with regular usage (up to 5 lbs back-to-back)? I believe it is a 600W motor, and perhaps there was some sort of voltage regulator in the circuit boards I keep discarding? I'm no electrician, but have a basic understanding of how things work. (and I have a fire extinguisher handy at all times..... thankfully I haven't had to use it!)

Thanks!

It could be that you are tripping some internal thermal protection fuse in the motor (for fire protection). I don't think these bread machine motors were designed for continuous use. You may have to rest the unit for a while between roasts.

I have seen these devices in other consumer products. Most have to be replaced once they blow.
