New air pump time, two vs one stage and how big a motor?

Newbie Posts: 11 Joined: January 30, 2020	Hey guys, My current roaster is running on an old leaf blower motor, Sadly the blower is only good for about 250gram load. it worked well in early testing... But once modified and mounted into the chamber it lost some of its punch. The motor mounts in a false bottom pressurizing the top of the chamber and thus into the heat tube. Looking at the Ametek Lamb line from Grainger. I see some people have luck with the single stage but I'm thinking a two stage might be better suited? the roaster is 2" heat pipe with a 2" heating element and will need to push through the element, the sprouting bed and a second screen under the sprouting bed for my bean dump chute. There seems to be about 14 blowers that match this search.... Any help narrowing it down would be awesome from someone who has worked with these things. A flat bottom would be helpful for mounting but getting info past the Grainger search is tedious. 14 pump search: https://www.grain...cuum+motor The bean dump I'm working on uses a lateral wye with a diverter screen and a manual gate valve. Newbie Posts: 11 Joined: January 30, 2020	Part two will be the speed control part. There seem to be many methods of slowing these guys down, But I don't want to damage the motor over time. Cheap 10,000 watt SCR seems to be the cheapest but I also see people using PWM. I could also run it at full power and use a blowoff valve in the bottom chamber to control flow. Would that be healthier for the pump despite the increased noise? My heating element is 3500watts and the original goal was a solid 500gram load with some headroom.

Newbie Posts: 11 Joined: January 30, 2020	Looks like this one is the most powerful of the bunch. Claims 447 "air watts" but at 10.8 amps? That doesn't seem to compute. Villiam was using a 700 Watt blower on his 580 gram tests, but never seemed to get above 50-70% power load. Edit: Ok "air watts" seems to be something different.
