Drum: Salton/Toastmaster GR80 "Round Veggie basket" $18.00. Stainless steel wire mesh. Square openings in the ends for a rod.

Nichrome wire and coils: Morelectric 18 gauge wire, 25 feet - part#18GA-NI60 $25.00 I am going to look into pre-coiled elements also.

OK, so this is what I found. You can buy 10 foot coil (COILHD10005) for $57.80. This 10 foot coil seems to indicate, based on the total ohms listed that there are 227 feet of wire. Or you can buy 100 feet of uncoiled wire (where you do the coiling work) for $80.00. You do the math. Oddly, let them do the work of coiling and you can get twice the amount of wire for 1/3 less. With that noted, I have a feeling we will have a little left over if someone else wants to start following and building along?

Insulators: Also from Morelectric. Don't know which ones yet.

Cooling fan: An inexpensive ($7.95) tangential blower.

Halogen worklight 500W from Lowe's @ $9.98 - Utilitech 235244.

Brainiac also offered this online link for a
Regent 500W Halogen Floodlight

The design calls for the halogen bulb to be on throughout the roast.
So, the bulb may need to be replaced with a 300W if the 500W is giving off too much heat at End Of Roast. :@
