Insulation??
kwrcst
Hey all. How much /thick of a layer of kaowool do you use on your homemade machine? I roast outside and it was great this summer but now that fall is here, I’m afraid the Missouri weather will have me draining a tank of gas in no time. I plan to build an internal wall system to keep the insulation out of the direct line of the heat and air circulation but I’ve never used this stuff and wanted to order the right amount the first time

Thanks

A half inch 1/2” will be OK
And it will be OK to wrap around the external part of the roast chamber

Kaowool will take way more heat than what the beans require to roast

So I have the bottom of my chamber opened up because I couldn’t draw enough heat. It’s not going to be exposed to direct flame so I guess that will be ok too. Save the expense and weight of adding more steel lol
