Hello, I am back in Costa Rica and a friend of mine here gave me a vintage Sunbeam Carousel Chicken Rotisserie Broiler and I immediately saw it's potential to convert it into a small drum roaster. The native heat element might not produce enough heat (110V/700W) but I could substitute it with a heat gun I use here to roast in a breadmaker. You can see it operating here: What I like is the transparant top, I would have to substitute the grill with a drum something like this: https://www.sweetmarias.com/behmor-small-grid-drum.html I would have to mount it horizontally once I have the drum inside. Speed of the motor is about 60RPM I guess, not sure. The motor runs I think but have to open it to check. What do you think? Any experience with this? Please let me know!

Interesting device... and project. ![]() Speed is 5RPM, as I counted "spokes" in the video... a full turn = 12 spokes ~~ 12 seconds. Could be at limit, but enough, if you create enough convection inside, with the hotgun, and also mount an oblique gene style paddle inside the drum, thus forcing beans to move more vigorously than just sliding on the drum wall. Gene drum speed is 10 RPM, btw. |
