Thanks for the addition to the group. Seriously considering building a drum roaster along the lines of oldgrumpus's. Love the design and craftsmanship.

Behmor Mod: A Better View of the Beans
EddieDove
Joe Behm has received many requests for this information and with his consent, I am posting these pictures. This is for cutting a small viewing window in the chaff collector that will allow a better view of the coffee beans during the roast.

Per Joe Behm, with respect to the modification shown below, "The altering of the chaff does NOT void the warranty."

Disclaimer: Just as with anything else, you are responsible for your own actions including any results thereof and your personal safety.

This photo depicts where to cut and then just fold the piece down:

This photo demonstrates the view that is opened up by cutting the window:

Nice and subtle.

My hack was not nearly as subtle but works quite nice. With the entire front flap folded down, chaff tends to catch in that screen area. Quite nice.

Good stuff Eddie...do you have the Behmor? Just curious.

I have enough roasters to cover all bases, but would certainly give this one a look if I were a few roasters back in time.

Hey Rick!

Yes. Due to the generosity of our very own Aaron [ Ascholten ], I do have a Behmor. Aaron is a great guy!

Also, due to the generosity of our very own Ginny, I also got a great deal on a Hottop Digital. Since I already had the Gene Cafe, I am hoping I can do a comparison of them; I do still have to finish putting the Hottop back together though ...
Respectfully,

Eddie Dove

I think you have the makings of a fine "roaster harem" there Eddie!

Good for you,

Rick

Behmor users:

Does the Behmor "taste" more resemble that of a commercial drum roaster (a la RK) or is it closer to the air-roast (popper) ?

THANKS!
