Fuild Bed Heat Source - Propane Torch
6eight
I have been reading about the fluid beds being built on the site and have thought about giving it a go. With the heat source being my main concern I think propane (roaster robs version) is better suited for me. I have been roasting with a modified bread machine and heat gun and half the time I trip the circuit with just the heat gun running.

My question is would this type of torch work.

I think 100,00 BTU's is a little much to heat a couple pounds of beans. This is a 20,000 BTU yard torch. It looks as if it has a little flame control, but would need some work for more accurate heat control. I also need to make sure it can be attached to a larger tank.

Thanks in advance!

Down the slope you go! That is still the fuel control valve I use for a 5lb. machine. That being said..the valve is the only thing I kept. I purchased a regulator from welding shop, and linked 2, 20 lb. propane tanks together. The regulator really helped.
I think the Rob design thread is a great resource, and a solid design.

It will work. I tried a similar torch and maneuvered different methods to try and get it to work, but I couldn't manage the heat well enough. I think my biggest obstacle was the 2.5" diameter tube I was trying to cram everything into.
