Yet another turbo oven roaster
gazza
Hi guys,

This is my first post here so go easy on me.

Here are few photos of my version TO Roaster.

My one is based on a Turbo oven with stainless steel pot that is used as the outer container. I wanted a better method of getting the beans out so I have used a fixed inner pot and the whole assembly tips to remove the beans.

Hi Gary,

Welcome to Homeroasters.

Nice job! I like the idea of tilting out the whole unit. Did you use a computer desk?

I like the stirrer arm design. Can you post a close up of the arm assembly when you get a chance?

I see so many things here I could use to improve my setup..Thanks

Welcome to Homeroasters!!!

I love the hook for the TO that you added to your assembly! I have been thinking of adding some type of hanging system that I can quickly use to cool the TO and get it out of the way.

Great work!

Here is another photo of the complete blade assembly but I'll have to pull it out to get some photos of the individual parts.

It was done as a way to test different mixer blades but the first one worked OK so I have never tried any other shapes.

BTW, I have just read the old post from 'farmroast' about his TO roaster and realised that there are a few features in common.

A photo of the blade with a small batch, it pushes the beans to the outside of the roast chamber and seems to give more even results.

I'm already on my second set of wheels, the first set couldn't cope with 50kg + of beans stashed in the drawers.

Gary, thanks for the closer view of the stirring arms. Looks like you are going CCW rotation. How fast is the motor going?

Thanks,
Jack

The motor is a power window motor from a 1988 Mercedes 300SEL !!

It rotates CCW which is the same direction as the fan in my TO and it does about 75-80 RPM.

Thanks Gary. Mine is a GM wiper motor LOL. Quite a stash of beans you have there.

Agitation is the key to good roasting results. I was never satisfied with the stirring approach. Once I went high speed 150-220rpm with the simple bean bat concept my main issues were solved.
