My local supplier is trying to get me swap out my Sumatra (for espresso is 40% Brazil 40% Sumatra and 20% Guatemalan ) with Uganda Bugisu. It is $3.00 cheaper a pound but is it a close comparison? Will it roast the same? -John |

Hi John, While I have enjoyed Uganda Bugisu very much in the past, it is hard to say what your experience will be -- there are many different Sumatra beans available and they have quite different tastes, likewise for Brazil and Guat. beans. Are you roasting each bean separately, or do you blend prior to roasting? |

I pre-blend before roasting. (Let the hate begin ) The Sumatra is Mandheling and I can't recall the others off the top of my head. John |

I prefer roasting pre-blend myself. Give the bugisu a try -- in my experience, it was more like a good Java than Sumatran but very tasty. |
