It was a very disappointing experience with times close to a drum roaster. I can get pretty good 1kg roasts with this machine though. It's gone through a lot of upgrades over the past 1.5 years so I'll put down the disappointing time to the stainless steel heating elements. Thought I'll use them for the time being until they blow before switching to nichrome wire. Does anyone have figures on temperature of stainless steel versus nichrome at the same power and diameter? Anyway, loft was at 60% so once I get the heating element switched to nichrome and calculated to give me another 1000 more watts, I should be able to do 2.5kg loads without maxing out the heater section. And here's the first time I'm showing the entire roaster although unfortunately I didn't take the video when it was in operation. |
