Here is the last dog we had. She was a sweetie and has made it hard to allow another dog into our lives. The wife and I are, after almost 2 years, thinking about another dog but it is tough. Enjoy Maggie.

Another fun thread we can participate in!

Here's the newest addition to our zoo.. our baby girl Abby.

Abby was rescued at 4 months old from a local backyard breeder who thought they could cross unpapered breeds to make "hybrids" and sell them for $1k a pop. Needless to say, they were wrong.

Abbys (or "Abbs") is partially named for our favorite NCIS character, and is a mix of black lab and St. Bernard. At 5 months old, she's already the size of the former.

She loves chaff. And quickly cleans it up from the floor. :-)

Such a lovely dog.

What is its origin?

I haven't seen one in my country.

Well, I think it is time to revive this thread of fur children.

Introducing the aptly named JAVA!

He is a 2 year old Ridgeback who likes long walks on the road, chasing squirrels and occasional general mischief.

Our dog Angus, a pedigree Border Collie. Likes playing frisbee big time. He can catch with the best of them.

The picture below was taken a couple years ago while I was using my homemade meat smoker for smoking up some pork butt.

And here is our pedigree working line bicolor German Shepherd, "Kaiser vom Nordostenhaus". (really, that is his pedigree name). He was born on December 26, 2009. He scored mostly 2's on the Volhard German Shepherd aptitude test as a pup.

http://www.volhard.com/pages/pat.php

He is an extremely dominant dog with incredible confidence. His grandfather (still alive) was in the Czech military as a paratroop dog; his mother was straight out of Germany.

We (my wife Kara and I) have trained Kaiser with German commands. He understands them fully.

Angus was our first dog (although before we were married my wife Kara had grew up with a couple dogs, and so had I). Angus kind of became Kara's dog as I had spent most of my hours in my workshop making coffee roasters for our business. I felt that the workshop was not a good place for a puppy to be while I was cutting and drilling metals, so he basically stayed with Kara most of the time and bonded with her.

When we got Kaiser he was chosen as a dog which would hopefully bond with me and be a protector of our family. I had him in my shop (kenneled) when I worked, and he has been with me when I am in my office. Due to his aptitude he has been an extremely challenging dog to train; he wants to be the leader and thats it. However through constant training and studying of german shepherd dog behavior I have made him able to understand that he is not Alpha Dog.

He amazes me every day with his abilities, and he is only just over a year old. Weighs around 75 pounds and is fed with homemade dog food we make for both our dogs.

"Herr Kaiser ist ein Braver Hund." He has been told this numerous times every day when he is a good dog. That is what it means.

Len

And finally here he is at 10 months old (October 2010)

He has grown quite a bit even since then (those pics are on my cell phone).

And that folks is our Deutscher Sch?ferhund Herr Kaiser wer ist ein braffer hund.

Here's Lyla,

img809.imageshack.us/img809/9427/img0178xwq.jpg

She's really taken to my roasting hobby.
She'll wait around for a bean to fall to the floor, and snatch it before I can get to it.
Her sweet spot seems to be Full City and beyond. Any less than that isn't worth the trouble.

What a great puppy.
thanks so much for posting.

Buddy is basically a hound dog with a little rottie and lab tossed in the mix.
His paws are bigger them most folks feet.

I was told I needed to post some pet pics.

Salome from across the room. I'm thinking of adding to to the LOLCATS library with the caption: Phasers armed and ready to fire.

I don't have a pic of Klea handy. She's a tabby we rescued.
