I saved my money for many months after reviewing and falling in love with both the machine & the coffee it produced - and finallyGrin

Just today I brought home a new machine
Its the new Strega Lever made by Bezzera

I was one of the first people in the world to use and video the Strega Lever but its taken a while for it to grace my home

Also here is a photo of the new machine side by side with my grinder and the BZ40

Glorious!

I need a couple more days rest on my Indian/Indian mysore/robusta blend... been without a decent espresso for a couple of weeks. Straight Ethiopian Harrar is just too tart.

Wow + 1!

Beautiful piece of art and a fine looking crema-laden stream of espresso hitting the cup.

Sorry KK, that's your Strega Lever machine doing the nice shot pour and is equally a beautiful machine even without ironwood burl handles.

KK,

Thanks for sharing!! I have been reading about this machine for a month or so. It's a gorgeous machine and the pump lever combo should keep you busy pulling different style shots.

How's the torque on the machine when pulling the lever down? From some videos I've seen it looks like the face plate is taking a lot of stress.

I have found that for the normal height of kitchen benches the pull handle may be a little low
Its all to do do with th fulcrum point that can cause what you see

To that end I am experimenting with a longer timber handle a friend made
Not surprising to me, is that it works with more fluidity

New handle is 7" or 180mm long compared to the old handle of 4 3/4" or 130mm long

However this may not suit all scenarios where kitchens have low overhanging cupboards

What a shame that these prosumer machines are still being shipped with those horrid vibe pumps.

Off topic, but what the heck! I swapped the Ulka for a triple-diaphram pump with pressure bypass. Made a bottomless PF. Installed a commercial pressurestat with smaller deadband. Added a check valve between tank and pump. Converted it from pour-over to RO water supply. Added a drain to the tray and plumbed it to a sanitary drain. Switche the hot water spigot from boiler (yucky tasting water) to the HX, and then added a microswitch on the valve so the pump increases water flow. Insulated the boiler with ceramic felt. All this from a machine that I got on eBay from the importer for 2/3rds the price because it was dropped in shipment.

Dan - Bezzera have introduced other models
So now the consumer can chose the model that best suits them

Someone was asking on the different Strega models available

Currently discussed model
Strega - with tank & vibration pump

Other models available by order only at this stage

Strega - Dual - Tank and Plumbed in

This model has 2 pumps
1 X Rotary pump - for mains water connection
1 X Vibration pump - for tank use

Strega - Direct mains

This model has no pump at all and connects direct to the mains water line

Following KK, farmroast and many other coffee enthusiast on Home-Barista I am also a proud owner of a Bezzera Strega! I purchased the machine from 1st Line Espresso as their introductory price seemed hard to beat when compared to other vendors and machines i had in mind. I had been looking to upgrade my Rancillio Silvia to either an Exobar Brewtus or a Rocket but was thrilled when I discovered the Strega. I have always wanted a lever machine. Here are some photos of my new setup.

I've rebuilt many a Grindmaster 500 over the years. This is one of the most underrated grinders ever.

I was privy to some testing done between several grinders including some very expensive Mahlkonigs to determine which one produced the least fines and consistent particle size and this grinder won hands down. For anyone wanting the ultimate coarse grind french press grinder this is the one.

I wish I had one!:@

So hows the coffee Ben ThumbsUp

Its not only beautiful its also easy to use
Ben & Ed I have found that a longer pull lever works better for my stature

So I had a longer than standard, timber pull handle made up to suit
Its 190mm or 7 inches long and has a mushroom cap so it wont slip if I have wet hands

It also gives me a smooth kink free operation when I actuate the lever
