Following KK, farmroast and many other coffee enthusiast on Home-Barista I am also a proud owner of a Bezzera Strega! I purchased the machine from 1st Line Espresso as their introductory price seemed hard to beat when compared to other vendors and machines i had in mind. I had been looking to upgrade my Rancillio Silvia to either an Exobar Brewtus or a Rocket but was thrilled when I discovered the Strega. I have always wanted a lever machine. Here are some photos of my new setup.![]() ![]() Edited by BenGeldreich on 02/22/2012 5:00 PM --------

I've rebuilt many a Grindmaster 500 over the years. This is one of the most underrated grinders ever. I was privy to some testing done between several grinders including some very expensive Mahlkonigs to determine which one produced the least fines and consistent particle size and this grinder won hands down. For anyone wanting the ultimate coarse grind french press grinder this is the one. I wish I had one!:@ Allen 1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

So hows the coffee Ben ![]() Its not only beautiful its also easy to use Ben & Ed I have found that a longer pull lever works better for my stature So I had a longer than standard, timber pull handle made up to suit Its 190mm or 7 inches long and has a mushroom cap so it wont slip if I have wet hands It also gives me a smooth kink free operation when I actuate the lever KK

It's a beautiful handle and I love the mushroom cap at the top! I am in the works of getting a set of handles made using East Indian Rosewood. I may borrow your idea for the lever handle. --------

I may borrow your idea for the lever handle. No problem Ben I have been testing and experimenting The one pictured on my previous post is version 2 & it works best The first one was more a trumpet shape (see photo of both) The timber I used is over 100 years old & is reclaimed I have 2 porta filter handles and steam/water knobs almost finished The finish will eventually be wet look They will all have that copper ferrule on the end KK

It works great for drip grind, exceptional for coarse press, but poor for espress (of course). One day! I converted one of the Strega's PF to bottomless myself. I found some directions on HB and was recommended to use a 60mm hole saw. This was the first time I've ever converted a PF but I am very happy with the results. ![]() ![]() Edited by BenGeldreich on 02/23/2012 9:40 PM --------

An update for the Strega Lever Machine I thought it was a good idea & about time for a video This is a naked espresso pour from start to finish including blonding stage and beyond. I used a standard Synesso 18gr double basket Just to demonstrate how it looks Please enjoy KK I home roast and I like it. I'm like John re the ironwood handles. I'm still swooning. I've seen tons of handles on the thread on HB but these are by far the most beautiful I've ever seen. Just a passing thought. How to become your neighbor! |

Quote They are made with resin to my colour preference / close to candy apple red with black tips ( so I'm eccentric ![]() I felt that resin would fair better in wet areas To manufacture - First a silicone mould for shape is made then the resin is poured in and allowed to cure Afterwords its placed on a lathe to polish and cut the ridges Don't ask how much it cost - but it was worth it I also had this tamper stand made as well KK
