Were going to be traveling to this country mid January and would like to ask forum members if they have been here and would share there experience. Were staying in a region noted for coffee growing, Matagalpa/Jinotega highlands.

Been there a few times. You will be there during the harvest and in the right area. The times I bought directly from the farm the price was $2/pound or less. The only problem is they are not sorted by size or defects. I built a screen to size them and then hand sort them. Not a problem and I've had the best beans ever. Good luck and let me know how it works out for you. Another possibility is buying at the local market.

Heard Nicaragua grows some of the best coffee beans in all of Central America. Enjoy your stay there- beautiful beaches and volcanoes
