I'm in the process of using a 60ktyz motor to push some sifter arms on a new bean cooler and I'm wondering what would be the best material to use for the sifter arms. Ideally it would lightweight and big enough to fit the 9 3/4 in pan i'm using. I have a m6 threaded rod and coupler coming in with the motor but i'm drawing a blank on what the best options would be from there forward. |

Used this tea bag clamp: https://www.amazo...B004IERMJQ Cut the squeezer in the middle, and used the drilled section to fasten with screws a hexagonal bit from a screwdriver bits set. The bit is used as shaft too. Milled the 60ktyz shaft as a hexagon, resulting an easy, almost instant, mounting/removal. The resulting blades must be twisted and bent for best agitation according with pan diameter and bottom shape. The result in my case can be seen below, is a clip from one of my older machines, done to explain someone building details. https://www.youtu...BDVIpErP-w LE: I am using these arms for roasting, not for cooling, but this not mean the technical solution is not good for you too. You are awesome. I got a 50ktyz 6 rpm motor and that same ikea pot. I bought a 15g beech propeller at lunch today that will just about fit the shaft. the pitch of the blades is only about 6 degrees that may not entirely work. Just bought these as a backup ![]() Edited by Josh025 on 04/03/2018 7:10 PM |

I was going to recommend some wire segments off a whisk But renatoa?s suggestion is also very good Any blade agitator action for roasting will also work for cooling KK I home roast and I like it. Designer of the KKTO

Well I got everything in put the arms. I put it together and tested with a kilo of green beans after i uploaded these. It had no issues pushes them around while the vacuum was on. I'm very impressed with that little motor. https://imgur.com... |

Haha I'll upload one when the tea tongs come in. I tried to propeller and it's too stiff and wants to hang up on the beans if they get underneath it. |

yeah, the movement should be closer to a paddle than a propeller... |

Slow and steady speed is best for cooling I would say about 20 rpm or less KK I home roast and I like it. Designer of the KKTO

Did some batches today and stuck with new hanger arms since my tea tongs haven't arrived. the 6rpm worked like a champ. Plenty of torque to push the mass around. |

Got the tea tongs in and added a flexible coupler to the top. I kept the hanger arms since they worked so well, and added the tea tongs on top. They work great in tandem, and the 50ktyz can push 1.5 kilos of green beans that i tested with earlier. I think roasted the pan could fit about 1.2 kilos, and the flexible joint helps the larger arms to not bind or get stuck with a huge mass of beans. https://streamabl... |

Good job ! Could work for cooling that mass, but for roasting that ikea pan capability stops at 800 grams, when using 1300W, based on my experience. Roasting requires much vigorous agitation, min.40 RPM, and the beans can fly outside on the finish. Roasters: DIY: TO based IR 200-640g

Oops. I see how my wording could suggest that. I meant to suggest this setup should be able to cool 1.2 kilos of roasted beans. I'm planning on upgrading to a larger roaster soon and wanted to design something with that cooling capacity in mind. |
