Inconsistency problems
BeefTips
I recently finished my BM build and have done a few roast. So far I'm loving it! I love the process and the coffee has been way better than what I expected. I'm just curious as to how to get a more even roast. I have some beans that look more full city plus and some a good city. I've been roast 1lb at a time. Don't know if I need to back down the size of my roast. I have good agitation I think. I have the HG 3-4 inches above the beans with it in the lid of the BM. Any suggestions. Would adding a exhaust help?

Agitation is very important
If your BM paddle shape is not mixing thoroughly it will create hot spots at the heating point

Or you may have a hot spot from the Heat Gun
Try a diffuser

Then again some ungraded beans of different size in the same batch will roast at different rates

How can I test see if it's my paddle?

The only diffusers that come with the hg are smaller than the original. Would that help?

How can I prevent that beam problem? Is it a source issue or an origin or something else?

Thanks for the help.

1) Place 3 to 5 coloured beans in the BM with your regular amount you roast and observe the mixing (use nail polish )

2) Anything to break / diffuse the straight line to the bean mass

3) Can?t do anything about bean processing and grading ? move on and try other beans
Although you can spritz the green beans with water ( 1 or 2 trigger sprays ) as it may help to even out the moisture levels
