When did hottop start putting protective grill

I found a used hottop for sale, the owner is telling me that it?s a p-2k, but there is no protective grill on the exterior, would?nt that make this the old p-2, without the k thermocouple? When did they start putting safety grill on the body, and when dis the change occur between those two model?

I don't know the answer but Hottop is great at replying to emails. Also, you can determine the model from the serial number. I think you'll find information about this on the hottop site.

I use a hottop and like it a lot but I press a lot of buttons when roasting. I kind of wish I had a computer link as I'd have tons more feedback and more precise control. I log every thing by hand and use my logs to make changes to my roast procedure.
