I am want to purchasing one of the Dwyer gauges. My understanding is I want to ready vacuum inside the roast chamber? The gauges recommended does not show a negative sign. Could someone please explain. Thanks

My thought is the drum fan is pulling air through the drum. There would be vacuum not pressure?

The reason for hooking up a Dwyer gauge to the drum/plenum/exhaust is to adjust the exhaust blower air flow. The would apply to a machine with a damper or variable speed fan.

For a 1k and under roaster the Dwyer 2000-00 0-0.25? wc should do the job and I have had good luck buying used gauges off Ebay. The easiest way to install is to drill out the plenum and tap in a fitting, tube it to the low side and put a little filter in the high side. They can be flush mounted or face mounted using a home made part from scraps. Once the gauge is installed you can use it to replicate any established air flow setting and figure out some new ones. Very handy inexpensive upgrade mod!

Reading negative pressure on the exhaust duct would be useful but curious why the mil city 1kg is using a range of 0-500 pascals (0-2" H2O) which would be out of optimal range for typical drum roaster exhuast fans and also out of range for LP and natural gas pressures.
